It looks like America’s First Dog, Bo Obama, has a sister! The Obama family welcomed the newest member of the family on Monday, a one-year-old puppy named Sunny.

Born in Michigan in June 2012, she’s a Portuguese Water Dog, just like Bo—which makes her perfect for the Obamas due to allergies in the family.
On Monday, Michelle tweeted a photo of her two dogs with the caption,
“So excited to introduce the newest member of the Obama family — our puppy, Sunny!”
The family chose the name “Sunny” for her energetic, affectionate, and cheerful attitude. The White House website says she is the perfect little sister for four-year-old Bo, and the two are already getting along famously, as you probably can tell from the photos below.
In October, the First Lady told reporters she hosted a “doggie play date” because “Bo doesn’t have enough dog interaction.” That problem has now been solved! So now, in addition to helping with official Oval Office duties, Bo takes on the important role of big brother!
In honor of Sunny’s arrival, the Obamas are making a donation to the Washington Humane Society.
Welcome home, Sonny!
