After one of the deadliest tornadoes in U.S. history devastated communities within Central Oklahoma on Monday, May 20, 2013, hundreds of pets were left stranded and injured. Numerous animal rescue organizations, joined by dedicated volunteers, have been working around the clock to provide care and shelter to animals in need as well as to reunite guardians with their beloved pets.

Global Animal Foundation is donating $2,000 to rescue organizations helping animals in need after the devastating effects of the Oklahoma tornadoes.

Thanks to our concerned readers, animals will be provided with food, water, shelter, and medical care through organizations such as the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and Horse Feathers Equine Rescue.

Since the evening of the tragic disaster, the Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) has been hard at work to receive, assess, and house displaced and injured animals affected by the disaster. OK Humane staffers and volunteers continue to work around the clock to ensure these animals receive the care they need as they reunite with their families and find their way home.

So far, OK Humane has taken in 142 animals displaced by the tornadoes, with over 82 pets reunited with their guardians. The non-profit continues to care for the remaining animals, with the exception of two animals in intensive care hospitals.

These animals will be held for a minimum of 45 days to give guardians a chance to reunite with them. If left unclaimed, these animals will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and admitted into the OK Humane adoption program. In July, OK Humane will then host a special adoption event exclusively for tornado victims.

“Our team here at OK Humane performed beautifully and I could not be more proud of their around the clock great attitudes, efficiency and practice of best standards,” OK Humane Founder and President, Christy Counts said.

Global Animal is distributing $1,500 to OK Humane for their grand efforts. This support has allowed the organization to care for and house animals displaced by the storms as well as work to reunite pets with their families.

With many ranches left devastated by the storm, Horse Feathers Equine Rescue is assisting with transportation, feed, and medical supplies for animals.

Located in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the 501c3 registered charity focuses on the rescue and rehabilitation of equines, as well as education and equine-assisted therapy.

Because horses require carefully monitored diets, stressed and injured horses are in serious danger of more suffering if not fed properly.

With the help of Cross Brand Feeds of OKC and many other compassionate volunteers, Horse Feathers is personally delivering feed and supplies to areas in need through their Hay For The Hungry Program.

Global Animal has distributed $500 to Horse Feathers Equine Rescue to help with transporting animals and hand-
delivering feed and supplies.

Global Animal Foundation continues to accept donations to help animals affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes. With countless animals left unclaimed and in need of care, these disaster relief programs still need your help.

Without the help of concerned Global Animals, these organizations are unable to make such a strong difference and help these animals affected by natural disasters. Thank you once again, Global Animal readers! Your compassion in action and support of Global Animal Foundation is saving the lives of animals in crisis.
