(ANIMAL RESCUE) While Oklahoma residents have only begun picking up the pieces in the wake of the massive tornado that tore through the region earlier this week, it’s encouraging to see miracles are still possible. One such moment occurred during a CBS interview with a woman named Barbara Garcia, whose home was completely destroyed by the colossal tornado. But her greatest loss was her missing dog, who she tried so hard to protect during the disaster. As the woman told her heartbreaking story, the news crew noticed a dog’s head poking out from beneath the rubble. Barbara Garcia is one of the hundreds affected by the tornado that swept through Oklahoma this week. After one of the strongest storms in history — which had winds up to 200mph — devastated her home and neighborhood, she was interviewed by CBS.

Standing outside the rubble that had once been her home, Garcia explains in the video below that she had always had a plan in case of a tornado: hide inside the bathroom with her dog. And that’s exactly what she did.

“I was sitting on the stool holding my dog,” she says. ”This was the game plan all through the years, to go in that little bathroom (together).” However, things didn’t go as planned when the storm hit.

In the interview, she describes feeling the stool lift out of the floor and then being tossed to the ground. “I rolled around a little bit and when it stopped I was right there (and) that stove cooker is what I saw.”

Garcia knew she had survived the tornado. Unfortunately, it didn’t take her long to realize that her dog was no longer in the bathroom with her.

“I never lost consciousness and I hollered for my little dog and he didn’t answer, he didn’t come, so I know he’s in here somewhere,” she says, while gesturing to the remains of her home.

That’s when something amazing happens.

As she’s telling the story, a member of the CBS crew spots the dog’s head in the rubble.

“Dog, dog!” someone off-camera shouts.

And then, with a little help from the crew, Mrs. Garcia manages to unearth the little animal from the pile trapping him. He stands, apparently unharmed, while a crying Garcia repeats his name over and over, before turning back to the camera.

“Well, I thought God just answered one prayer to let me be OK but he answered both of them, because this is my second prayer,” she says in tears.

The camera crew then helps the pair away from their former home.
