Actress Naomie Harris will continue the eco-friendly dress trend at this year’s Academy Awards by wearing a sustainable gown designed by the Red Carpet Green Dress challenge winner.

Harris is best known for starring in “Skyfall,” “Pirates of the Carribbean” and “28 Days Later.”

“We are very excited to have Naomie aboard. She’s a spirited, intelligent, gorgeous woman with a strong sense of moral responsibility, and I believe she will represent us well,” Suzy Amis Cameron said.

Founded by Amis Cameron, the contest gives designers from all over the world an opportunity to showcase their work in an eco-friendly fashion. This year’s winner is up and coming designer Michael Badger from Ghana. He is the first male to win.

Badger’s gown is described as flowing like lava, and will be designed from an organic GOTS certifed organic silk Crepe De Chine, with all dyes naturally made from plants. Badger is also lucky enough to work with animal activist and renowned designer Vivienne Westwood and her team.

First started in 2010, the sustainable challenge has proven that gowns can be beautiful when crafted from recycled and sustainable materials.

We can’t wait to see Harris don the eco-friendly gown on one of the biggest red carpets. Tune into the Oscars on Feb. 24th on ABC to see Harris strut her stuff.
