It was an eco-friendly star-studded night at Global Green USA’s 10th annual Pre-Oscar party Wednesday. Helen Hunt, Orlando Bloom, Dylan McDermott, Ed O’Neill, Sophia Bush, Sharon Lawrence, Luke Perry, and Emmy Rossum were just some of Hollywood’s most green-minded celebrities who gathered at The Avalon in Hollywood for the event- which also featured a performance by seven-time Grammy-winner Willie Nelson.

“It’s good to be here,” said Nelson, who performed a set of his classics with his sons Lukas and Miscah. “Me and the guys love playing music anywhere, but this is a great cause. It’s a benefit for a lot of good people so glad to be hear.”

Global Green USA has been collaborating with the Hollywood community for the past decade to raise global awareness for more efficient climate solutions.

It’s a mission the night’s supporters say is something they put efforts towards in their own lives.

“I try to buy a lot of sustainable things and encourage other people to do that,” said Nelson.

Original “90210” star Luke Perry says he will possibly be making a change in his mode of transportation to help the planet. “I’m looking into my first hybrid car,” said Perry, who added that he attended Global Green’s party to learn more about how he can live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. “I’m afraid about environmentally what’s going on with the planet. I’m very concerned about it, so I just wanted to come to see what education I can get from these guys about how I can do better.”

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the charity’s work to build greener, more resilient homes, schools, and communities in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

“Switched at Birth’s” D.W. Moffett’s says he not only admires the work Global Green USA is does with the industry, but also the way Global Green’s President Matt Peterson is educating kids about sustainability.

“I’ve educated myself a little bit about his organization and I’m very impressed not only with what they do but with how they sort of taken advantage of the focus that the movie business can bring to events, can bring to topics. I’m loving what he is doing with this school initiative, where he’s having schools compete to see who can be the most green. It’s very clever getting the kids to learn about sustainability,” said Moffett.

The party, that kicked off the Oscar Celebrations in Hollywood, also featured a VIP cocktail reception and patron dinner by Chef Akasha Richmond of Akasha restaurant in Culver City, California-which custom designed a farm-table menu by L.A.’s best farmer’s markets.

No doubt it was a very healthy and eco-”friendly” night as the stars mingled together during the dinner and danced during Nelson’s set; which as he told me it’s what is healthy that keeps him inspired as an artist. “I think music is healthy. Playing music, listening to music, is healthy. I think people come to hear music so they can clap their hands and sing.”

And that is what they did last night as Global Green USA once again pulled off another stellar Oscar celebration and successful fund-raiser that’s impact will make a difference to thousands.
