The annual competition for the World’s Ugliest Dog took place on June 22 in Petaluma, California. As usual, the event was packed with the Chinese crested breed, dogs who have a tendency for looking hilariously unsightly yet strangely cute. Although the contest might sound a bit mean, it’s actually full of love for these adorably unfortunate-looking pets. The award for the prestigious title is $1,000 and a year’s worth of dog cookies. This year’s winner is a Chinese crested pooch named Mugly. Take a look at the comical gallery, featuring some not so very handsome dogs.
