(CELEBRITY NEWS) PETA revealed their 2012 picks for Sexiest Vegetarians and the winners are actors Jessica Chastain and Woody Harrelson. Both have been proud vegetarians and vegans for many years. Chastain has been a vegan for five years and vegetarian for fifteen. She even famously refused to eat chicken on the set of The Help, insisting for a vegetarian option instead. Harrelson credits his 25 years of veganism for his acne-free skin. Congratulations to these sexy, animal-friendly stars!—Global Animal

This just in: Jessica Chastain and Woody Harrelson have officially been named PETA’s 2012 Sexiest Vegetarians.

First off, congrats to both of these wonderful celebs! They beat out quite a few amazing actors and actresses – who all embrace vegan and vegetarian diets – like Lea Michele, Emily Deschanel, Paul McCartney and Russell Simmons.

Chastain changed her diet about 15 years ago, and does whatever it takes to remain faithful to her meat-free cause. While filming “The Help,” she gained around 15 pounds with soy and vegan fried chicken.

“The scene where I was eating fried chicken, they made me vegan fried chicken. It probably [didn’t taste as good] as fried chicken. They did an amazing job,” she revealed. “They took a turkey dog and tofurkey and battered it, and deep fried it. I haven’t had meat in so long. I’ve been vegan for five years and vegetarian for 15 years, so if I had had meat, I wouldn’t have been able to do the scene. They all thought I was just chowing down.”

Regarding Harrelson’s diet, he transitioned to veganism about 25 years ago.

“I used to eat burgers and steak, and I would just be knocked out afterward; I had to give it up,” he told Maxim. “The first thing was dairy. I was about 24 years old and I had tons of acne and mucus. I met some random girl on a bus who told me to quit dairy and all those symptoms would go away three days later. By God she was right.”

Olivia Wilde, Kristen Bell and Milo Ventimiglia are a few other celebs who have also received the title. Last year, Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig achieved the honor.
