JOPLIN, MO – A minute into a newscaster’s report on location in the tornado-ravaged town of Joplin, a pet rescue taking place in the background suddenly takes center stage.
Watch as a pajama-clad resident sifts through the wreckage of his flattened house to locate a frightened dog. And see the little dog emerge, tail between legs, then shortly after, give a good shake and take a short walk.
The death toll from the violent F5* tornado that ripped apart the town is now at 127 people, with hundreds missing. The raw footage of the aftermath reveals tremendous devastation. St. John’s Regional Medical Center took a direct hit and many other building have been leveled.
A Facebook page has been created to help reunite lost pets with their families. The page can be accessed here: Animals Lost & Found from the Joplin, MO Tornado. Caring citizens are coming forward to foster displaced pets, while others are posting pictures and information on pets who have been found.
