LOS ANGELES – CNN iReport, Julie Ellerton

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus rolled into Los Angeles California to the upset of animal rights activists. A protest was held on opening night at the Staples center organized by People fort the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). This was a civil protest where participants were passionately voicing their concerns for the animals in the circus, especially Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Olivia Munn, actor and Daily Show correspondent lead the protest on opening night against the mistreatment of animals in the circus. There is evidence that the animals are mistreated, even beaten to get them to perform their stunts in front of an unaware audience. The purpose of the protest  was to bring awareness to the public of the mistreatment the animals receive in the Ringling Bros. and B&B Circus.

Linda Hogan was also in attendance (Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife). She has been voicing her concerns since she witnessed with her own eyes the behind the scenes mistreatment of the animals in the Ringling Bros. Circus. She was outraged and vowed never to take her children to the circus again. Although her children are grown, Linda has remained true to her commitment to help be a voice for these helpless animals.

I watched as people felt deeply the pleas of the animal rights activists and decided to take their children back home. They said they wanted to teach their children the difference between right and wrong.

This was estimated to be the largest protest, over 300 people, against the  Ringling Bros. and Barnum& Bailey Circus alleged abuse of their animals, especially the elephants.
