(ANIMAL RESCUE/BIRDS) A rare Carnaby cockatoo was seriously burned last month after his feathered friend suddenly exploded as they sat on a power line. Luckily for this little survivor, Peter Ricci from the Perth Zoo reconstructed the bird’s feathers using glue and matchsticks in a process called ‘imping.’ While this cockatoo (an endangered species) was severely injured, he is expected to make a full recovery, with hopes of eventually being returned to the wild. Oh Deer! Hero Dog Saves Drowning Fawn

(DOGS/ANIMAL RESCUE) NEW YORK -- A 6-year-old English Labrador retriever named Storm is making headlines after pulling a drowning baby deer to shore in Port Jefferson Harbor this past weekend. The heroic dog's guardian was taking Storm for a walk Sunday when the dog suddenly dove into the water, swam out toward the fawn, grabbed the animal by the neck, and then hauled the young deer back toward the beach--a moment that was luckily all caught on film (see video clip below). With the help of Strong Island Animal Rescue League, the fawn is currently in stable condition at Save the Animals Rescue Foundation. Thankfully, the animal is expected to make a full recovery and will eventually be returned to the wild. Olympic Snowboarder Rescues Dog From South Korean Meat Trade

(CELEBRITIES/DOG RESCUE) While competing in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, U.S. snowboarder Maddie Mastro made it a point to visit a South Korean meat farm to rescue a dog slated for a dinner plate. While the SuperPipe bronze medalist already has three rescue dogs in her home and cannot take in another, the playful Korean Jindo named Plum (or "Jadu" in Korean) will soon be available for adoption at the Barking Lot Rescue in San Diego County. Jadu is just one of the thousands of dogs harvested for meat in South Korea and other Asian countries, and the Barking Lot Rescue has helped bring in over 200 dogs from the dog meat trade alone. Thanks to Mastro's compassion in action, not only is Jadu's life saved, but she will soon have a loving forever home.
