Thank you for adding your voice to the vibrant community of animal lovers at GlobalAnimal.org! There’s a simple principle guiding GlobalAnimal.org’s comment policy – Be the brilliant, fair person your pet knows you are. Here’s a further explanation of our policies, which we hope help foster an engaging and thought-provoking atmosphere for everyone.
We want GlobalAnimal.org to be a social network and resource where animal lovers worldwide can connect, discuss, share and debate in a non-toxic environment. To that end, we moderate comments. We try to approve comments as quickly as possible given the news we’re covering and our staffing hours that day; we appreciate your patience. Please do not resubmit your comment if it doesn’t appear right away.
GlobalAnimal.org does not discriminate based on the person who’s posting, nor do we censor comments for ideological reasons. We don’t delete a comment simply because we disagree with its viewpoint or ideology, nor do we publish an inappropriate comment because we support it.
We understand that animal lovers can be passionate about speaking up for the voiceless, namely, animals. This can sometimes lead to frustration, anger, hyperbole, and biting humor. As a community dedicated to fostering discussion, we can tolerate this. But we do not tolerate comments that are solely intended to provoke other readers, to cause disorder or confusion, or inhibit civil on-topic conversation. We use common-sense judgment to distinguish between the two.
If an entry gets you so fired up that it inspires a very lengthy treatment of the issue, please consider publishing on your own blog and sharing it with Global Animals in a comment summarizing your work. Also, we are always interested in featuring thought-provoking opinion pieces in our Blog Den, so please feel free to submit your writing for feature consideration.
For the benefit of the entire community, we ask that you respect these comment guidelines:
A Spam-Free Place To Be:
Please do not post the same comment on more than one story/post or comment thread.
Be certain that your comment is your own. Large copy/pastes of another person’s written material are not allowed.
We flag and delete all comments containing business solicitations or other advertising of personal interests, blogs, or websites.
“Comment hijacking” and “flaming” aren’t nice, and we do not allow either.
We Strictly Do Not Allow:
Ad hominem attacks. As such, we do not allow comments that criticize others based on physical appearances or mental characteristics.
Racism, sexism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, attacks based on nationality or other intolerance. As such, we do not allow comments that support hatred, conspiracy theories, unlawful violence, threats of violence or threats to anyone or any group’s personal safety.
Comments that celebrate the illness, death, or personal loss of any person.
Stalking any GlobalAnimal.org member, writer, or contributor, all of whom have the right to share their opinions without being subject to scathing and mean-spirited remarks or persistent nuisance. This includes posting personal information about another Global Animal member, writer, or contributor, pursuing someone in comment threads in an attempt to harass, deliberately misquoting or lying about another member.
To maintain the integrity of GlobalAnimal.org as a non-toxic, egalitarian place for people to connect, we reserve the right to delete the entries and/or block users who violate these comment policies.
We hope you agree it’s all reasonable stuff. Thanks again for sharing your voice at GlobalAnimal.org – and making your pet – past, present or future – proud!
