States Pass Animal Welfare Laws By A Landslide

(ANIMAL NEWS/NEW ANIMAL LAWS) Tuesday's midterm election results proved to be a resounding win for animals in at least two states. In California, residents overwhelmingly voted to require more space for factory farmed animals--including egg-laying chickens, calves raised for veal, and pregnant pigs. Meanwhile on the East Coast, Florida voters chose to put an end to commercial greyhound racing by a nearly 69 percent vote. The passage of California's Proposition 12 and Amendment 13 in Florida are groundbreaking decisions for the welfare of animals, proving we're on the verge of powerful change for a better way forward.
