(CUTE ANIMAL VIDEO/PET ADOPTION/DOGS) Dion Leonard is an extreme marathon runner who, thanks to a successful crowd-funding campaign, is adopting a stray dog he met while running a 155-mile race through the Gobi Desert. The dog showed up on day two of the annual 4 Deserts Race Series as racers passed the Tian Shan Mountains and started following Leonard, running side-by-side with him for 77 miles.

An unbreakable bond somehow formed and the little dog stuck with Leonard through the week-long race in temperatures up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit! She followed him around everywhere and at camp, she only slept by Leonard’s side. The funds raised will help cover medical and quarantine expenses so the dog, who Leonard appropriately named Gobi, can be transported from China to Leonard’s home of Edinburgh, Scotland. — Global Animal
