(DOGS/DOG ADOPTION) At Global Animal we love all dogs–big dogs, small dogs, senior dogs, and of course, puppies. But we love underdogs most of all. People who are looking to adopt a dog often choose a certain dog breed and don’t realize the mixed breed dog they are passing by has many advantages over a pure breed.
If you’re looking to adopt a new family member, think about mixing it up. Below are ten awesome reasons why mutts rock the most.

1. FEEL GOOD AND DO GOOD
Mutts make up 75 percent of the shelter population. Give back by giving e a mutt a loving home.

2. MUTTS ARE READY AND WAITING
Mixed breed dogs are easy to find. They’re in every shelter across the country. Instead of traversing the earth for what you believe to be the “perfect” dog, go with a mutt, and remember “easy to find” doesn’t mean, “lacking individuality.”

3. UNIQUE PERSONALITIES
Mutts don’t only come in an array of physical variations, but their personalities are often more complex than their purebred relatives. The ability to find the perfect dog for your family just got a whole lot easier. Breeds known for safety, and breeds known for their love of children can be found in the same animal. How convenient!
4. A MUTT WON’T CHEW UP YOUR WALLET
Affordability is a big positive, especially in this day and age. Purebreds can cost a small fortune, but the price to adopt a mutt will only put you out between $150 – $300 at a shelter. That price generally includes vaccinations, licensing fees, and spay/neuter surgery.
5. TRAINED AND READY
Many of the mutts and mixed breeds found in shelters are trained. They come from previous families, and are no strangers to house-training, and bathroom etiquette. If you want a dog who knows his or her stuff, adopt a mutt.

6. LONG LIVE THE MUTT!
Studies in both Denmark and North America show that mixed breed dogs live longer lives than purebred ones. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to spend even more time with your furry companion? You may not be able to buy time, but you can adopt it.
7. GENES OF STEEL
The lifespan of a mutt or mixed breed dog can be attributed to genetic makeup. Many purebred dogs suffer from specific genetic diseases due to line breeding. It can be costly to treat genetic issues associated with purebreds, and diseases are often overlooked when breeders tailor towards them. Genetic diversity in dogs leads to healthier, stronger individuals.
8. MUTTS CAN SHARE THE SPOTLIGHT
The days of purebred canines in the limelight will soon be behind us. There are now mixed breed dog shows and agility contests, courtesy of organizations like the North American Dog Agility Council. Now mixed breed dogs can partake in the fun. Plus, with the right temperament and qualities, mixed breeds are great service dogs.

9. MUTTS ROLL WITH IT
Mutts and mixed breed dogs can adapt to life changing situations. Whether you’re moving to a new home, or expecting a baby, the variety of attributes a mixed dog has promotes more adaptability than a purebred. Mutts can make those big decisions easier for you and they’re in it with you.
10. EACH MUTT IS UNIQUE – THE ULTIMATE ‘DESIGNER DOG’
Many people separate dogs into two categories – purebred and not purebred. But the variety of mix combinations infinitely surpasses the variety of purebred options out there. How many German Shepherd-Chihuahua mixes do you see around town? Mutts come in all shapes and sizes, and their individuality makes them stand out.
