PETCO Pulls Deadly Dog Treats From Shelves

(PETS/DOG FOOD RECALL) U.S. pet store Petco has just announced they will no longer sell their popular Jerky and Rawhide treats for dogs and cats. The decision was made after several dogs and cats became deathly ill after consuming the products. The treats are made in China and have proven to be dangerous for pets since 2007, when the first account of illness was reported by a concerned pet guardian. The U.S Food and Drug Administration has received a total of 5,000 complaints from distressed customers over the past seven years. However, the decision to pull the treats was initially determined by Petco in May 2014. -- Global Animal

Factory farm employees who witness acts of animal cruelty may not feel comfortable reporting such acts for fear of jeopardizing his or her job. Rescued Hens’ First Moments Of Freedom

In the past three years, Animal Place has rescued more than 16,000 hens from egg farms. Here is just one of their hen rescues. Rehabbed Brown Booby’s First Flight

(ANIMAL RESCUE/BIRDS/WILDLIFE VIDEO) This Brown Booby was rescued by the South Florida Wildlife Center after an embedded fishing hook injured his foot. After nearly a month of treatment and careful monitoring in the hospital, he spent another month living in an outdoor rehabilitation habitat built specifically for seabirds. Once he was fully recovered, staff found a perfect release site off the coast of Key West where he was returned to the wild.
