(FARM ANIMAL RESCUE/CHICKENS/ANIMAL VIDEO) In 2008, California voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 2, requiring larger cages for egg-laying hens and eliminating veal crates for calves and gestation crates for pregnant pigs. California farmers and U.S. egg producers have had several years to make the necessary changes, and California’s oldest and largest sanctuary for farmed animals, Animal Place, has seen firsthand how the new law is affecting chickens.
