(CELEBRITY NEWS/DOGS/CELEBRITIES) Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton recently payed a staggering $13,000 for “the world’s smallest Pomeranian puppy.”
The teacup Pomeranian named Mr. Amazing barely weighs 12 ounces and is only 2.5 inches tall. That’s a lot of money for such a tiny dog!
She may have a love for animals, but Paris’ most recent four-legged purchase certainly sends the wrong message to the public.
Instead of adopting an animal in desperate need of a home, Paris chose to purchase her pet from a dog breeder.
Not only do breeders take business away from overpopulated animal shelters, but they also encourage inbreeding, which can lead to serious health problems and genetic disorders in dogs.
Breeding often involves irresponsible and cruel practices, and purchasing a dog from a breeder only fuels this inhumane industry.
Paris is certainly no stranger to designer dog trends. In the past, she’s been known for toting around her purebred toy Chihuahuas like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. But sadly, those who purchase “trendy” dogs do not fully understand the animal’s characteristics and needs.
Even though her dog, Mr. Amazing, is truly an amazing sight, Paris should think twice before her next pet purchase.
