(PICTURES OF ANIMALS/DOGS) Elke Vogelsang is a self-taught professional photographer based in Hildesheim, Germany. Her main job involves photographing people and pets, but in her spare time she focuses on her own trio: Noodles, Loli, and Scout.
For Vogelsang, the most rewarding part of pet photography is “being outside and being able to behave like a child again.”
“During an outdoor photo session, I lie on the ground, in the grass, or on the beach. I stand in a river or lake with my camera just above the water. It’s lots of fun and I love the activity. It’s interesting to get to know so many individual characters among my animal models. Each and every one of them is so unique and amazing. Every photo session is unpredictable, just like children. I love the surprises and challenges,” she writes on her 500px website.

“My favourite artist is nature, which I try to imitate while adding my own personal view of life, the universe, and everything in between.”
The remarkably natural and playful moments she captures effortlessly reflect her companions’ personalities.
“I could spend all day taking photos of dogs,” she tells the DailyMail. “I never get tired of their beauty, energy and patience. One of the most exciting parts of my job is to get to know so many different characters among my animal models. Each and every one of them is so unique and amazing. Every photo session is unpredictable and I love the surprises and challenges.”

Vogelsang took up photography as an outlet after a close relative became very ill. Her hobby quickly turned into something much more profound.
Vogelsang is also a strong supporter of animal rights and adoption. She writes the following on her personal website:
“In order to ‘pay it forward’, I provide my photographic services free of charge for chosen animal protection organizations.”
“If you are looking for a new animal family member, make sure you take a pet from an animal shelter into consideration. Perhaps you’ll find your long-sought treasure. I was certainly able to find mine there.”
Her personal project entitled “All Good Dogs…” is receiving national acclaim, and has sparked the creation of Vogelsang’s new online print shop.
Her photos also recently appeared on Good Morning America.
