(ANIMAL TESTING/ANIMAL CRUELTY) Cruelty Free International needs your help to ban animal testing in Canada once and for all. The global organization has created a new petition that outlines the cruelties of animal testing while offering humane alternatives. These alternatives to cosmetic animal testing are not only more effective, but also less expensive.
The petition has gained the approval of the Clerk of Petitions, and after receiving hand signatures from 25 Canadian citizens, it will be sent to the House of Commons. Continue reading for more on how you can help Cruelty Free International ban Canadian animal testing for good. — Global Animal

Ottawa (24th March 21 2014) Cruelty Free International has created a new petition to help Canadian citizens take part in the political process and make their concern about animal testing for cosmetics heard. The petition to the House of Commons has gained the approval of the Clerk of Petitions and is now ready for Canadian citizens to begin making their voices heard by calling for an end to cosmetics testing on animals in Canada.
A copy of the petition is now available for download from Elizabeth May’s website.
The petitions, must be hand signed by at least 25 Canadian residents and are subject to verification by the Clerk of Petitions and may then be read on the floor of the House of Commons by the Member who received the petition from their constituents. Such petitions not only allow a group’s shared voice to be heard by the House of Commons but also creates an opportunity for individuals to raise awareness of an issue as signatures are collected.
In addition to the obvious animal welfare benefit, the petition points out that alternatives to animal testing are increasingly less expensive, faster, and more accurate at predicting human reactions and that the largest cosmetics market in the world, the European Union, now prohibits the importation and sale of cosmetics that have been tested on animals. The petition ends by calling upon the House of Commons to establish a ban on animal testing for cosmetics.
Monica Engebretson, North American Campaign Manager for Cruelty Free International said, “The petition creates an effective and unique opportunity for caring Canadians to take action and make their desire for cruelty free cosmetics in Canada heard.”
Calling all compassionate Canadians – Take action now:
- Download a copy of the petition from Eliazbeth May MP’s website and ask you family and friends to sign it
- Let the Canadian Government know that you don’t want animals to suffer for your cosmetics
