(DOGS/TV) Santa Claus isn’t the only one listening to us this holiday season. Family Guy fans can finally rejoice, because the cartoon’s creator, Seth MacFarlane, is bringing back a crowd favorite for the show’s Christmas episode.

One of America’s favorite talking dogs, Brian Griffin, will return to the FOX’s Family Guy just weeks after his tragic death rocked the television world.

Immediately after Brian’s death in a hit-and-run accident, fans were skeptical that the dog’s absence would be permanent.

Over 128,000 fans of the show signed a petition to bring Brian back, and it looks like their wish will be granted.

MacFarlane, who is also the voice behind Brian, announced the fan favorite would make his return on the December 15 episode of Family Guy titled, “Christmas Guy.”

Brian lovers shouldn’t get their hopes up though, the dog’s role in the episode is unclear, and Family Guy has an affinity for using flashbacks and other nontraditional storytelling methods.

However, the episode’s summary does offer an optimistic outlook at Brian’s return saying, “Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas” — most likely a hint at Family Guy’s canine character.

Whether Brian’s return is long-term or not, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
