Plans for the upcoming action-documentary, “Lion Ark,” began circulating the web a few months ago, and the time has finally come for the film to grace the silver screen!

Completed in early June, the world premier is set to take place today, October 1, at the Raindance Film Festival in London.

Filmed in a post-circus Bolivian world, “Lion Ark” follows the efforts of several activists as they transport abused, illegally-retained circus lions to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado.

The movie was directed by Vice President of Animal Defenders International (ADI), Tim Philips, who helped the 2010 Bolivian legislation pass a law that banned all circus animals in the country.

The efforts of ADI in Bolivia sparked 20 countries to follow suit by either fully or partially banning animal circuses within their respective nations. The U.S. is also en route for change.

“I am overwhelmed by the roaring reviews and celebrity support for Lion Ark. This glamorous world premiere screening is a fitting tribute to the magnificent Lion Ark stars, now living in their Colorado sanctuary,” said Director Tim Philips.

“Lion Ark” heroically attempts to give a voice to the lions held captive, straining to save them from any further degree of torture.

Celebrities Gillian McKieth, DJ Sarah Young, singer-songwriter Lynsey De Paul, TV host Wendy Turner-Webster, and Northern Line’s Dan Corsi are also on the list of attendees. Several have expressed their excitement for the film’s cause and release.
