The heartbreaking story of Buck, the dog shot in the face and left to die in a garbage bag tied to a post, seems to be finally turning in a positive direction. Thanks to a Facebook campaign that brought in thousands in donations, Tami Augustyn, who rescued the dog, is now able to pay Buck’s expensive vet bills.

This incredible story began in Texas when a resident of Conroe stopped to inspect a garbage bag tied to a fence on the side of the road, that appeared to be moving. Inside the bag the shocked resident discovered a 3-year-old puppy covered with wounds and blood and unable to stand for more than a few seconds.
When he couldn’t reach animal control the resident called Tami Augustyn, a local animal lover who rushed the dying dog to an emergency clinic. There the vet determined that Buck, as he is now called, was shot in the head and face with a pellet gun. The dog also needed X-rays as he was not able to walk, and a visit to the ophthalmologist to figure out whether he would be permanently blind.

With no money to pay for Buck’s expensive medical bill Tami turned to Facebook creating the “Buck Needs Bucks for his Buckshot Injuries” page. The response has been beyond amazing.
“The last 24 hours has been overwhelming for me. I have gone from not knowing if I would have enough money to pay for Buck’s emergency bill to having an unbelievable amount of money to provide THE BEST care possible for Buck’s recovery,” Tami wrote on the Facebook page.
Buck is now doing better, and slowly begginging to walk. Tami is working on opening the Buck foundation from the generous leftover donations, stating, “Buck’s tragedy will be turned into something GOOD…The outpouring of love has been tremendous and Buck and I are ready to serve through the creation of The Buck Foundation to make a difference in this world”

It is so sad what people do to dogs
Wow! who would do such a thing to an animal? I mean, I dislike dogs, but I would never go ahead and shoot one. If I ever see an animal in need, I’ll take it to a good dog vet in Carpentersville, IL. Even if I were to hate an animal, I could never bring myself to harm the poor thing.

that's just sad…. I feels sad for Buck.
yet another reason to rid the world of stupid people who own guns.
Very sad
The person who did this deserves to empathize… I will cover the cost for that bullet….
please give some bucks…
Oh my gosh..this breaks my heart. I cannot understand why anyone can do this to an animal. There was another story I followed a while back about a similar situation with a dog thrown into a dumpster. I pray that they can find the person(s) responsible for this heinous crime. We have to become a society of zero tolerance for animal abuse. My prayers are being uplifted for this dog and his new owner.
