Supermodel Coco Rocha may have won the print campaign but a pack of cute rescue dogs are the stars of Banana Republic’s latest video promotion for its collaboration with Trina Turk. The retail giant partnered with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to create a playful ad that draws attention to more than just colour blocking bikinis.

The joint venture that casts 13 adorable pooches against a backdrop of vibrant Trina Turk patterns hopes to raise awareness for dog adoption across the country. And there’s even a brindle french bulldog named Coco in the mix just to remind the supermodel, she’s not the only star of the show.

Elysia Howard, vice president of marketing & licensing for the ASPCA told MailOnline: ‘We’ve never done an adoption promotion like this before, so when Banana Republic approached us with the idea, we thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase the fun-loving nature of shelter pets.’ Da Vinci, Clyde, Harry Truman, Lucy, Walter, Franklin, Jorda, Pacino, Coco, Gladys, Sawyer, Toby and Binah certainly all seem to be having fun during their individual few seconds of fame in the one minute video.

But for those who disapprove of dressing up our furry friends in human costumes, the sweet fashion trailer won’t offend. At the very most, the dogs wear one accessory from the Palm Springs-inspired line developed by Banana Republic with the help of colour enthusiast Turk.

Ms Howard explained: ‘Each of the rescued pets featured in the video came from a shelter and have already found loving homes with ASPCA staff members.

‘They are each ambassadors for rescue and adoption and we hope that by featuring them here, it will encourage everyone to seek out their local animal shelter to adopt– there are so many terrific pets waiting for a loving home.’

In one, a mongrel named Jorda wears a fabulous beach hat that is swiped by a passing model while in another a shaggy pup called Walter stares as a series of vibrant clutches flash before his eyes. Clyde, a statuesque mix of unknown breeds, sits elegantly wearing a neon yellow statement necklace. The accessories are part of a 60 piece collection due to hit stores on June 7 that also features dresses, sunglasses, swimsuits, and more.

Simon Kneen, Creative Director of Banana Republic told MailOnline: ‘We wanted the video to emphasize the fun, playful feeling of the collection and it’s such a great cause that is close to my heart- I have two rescue dachshunds that I live for!
