(VEGAN/VEGETARIAN LIVING) NEW YORK — This weekend is New York City’s second annual Vegetarian Food Festival, a mixture of the city’s best vegan and vegetarian food, entertainment, and information booths. Throughout the weekend there will be presentations from popular animal rights activists as well as outreach tables from organizations including Mercy for Animals, Sea Shepherd, Compassion Over Killing and Peta. Food and animal lovers alike read on for more information on this event! — Global Animal

New York City features some of the most delicious vegan/vegetarian food you can find. Sometimes, it’s one of the things I miss the most about living in New York since moving all the way down here to Florida (sorry friends and family, I miss you too, but really have you tried that food?!).
Last year, the very first New York City Vegetarian Food Festival celebrated all things NYC and veg with some of the city’s best veg food, entertainment, info booths and more. This weekend, the festival is back and bigger than before! Last month, we reported that the event will be not one but TWO days of food and fun this year, on March 3rd and 4th. If you’re not an herbivore, head on over to the Metropolitan Pavilion anyway. As Bangstyle points out, the event is for every “food lover” to enjoy, and a portion of the ticket proceeds will be going to for the Animals sanctuary. Who doesn’t want to help rescued animals, right?
As the festival’s site says, “Foodies, locavores, vegetarians, vegans, flexitarians, and those who simply want to find out more about living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, this is the festival for you!”
General admission tickets to the event cost $5, or you can buy VIP tickets for $20. What does being a VIP get you? You’ll be with the cool kids at the special Saturday night event featuring a screening of Vegucated and a Q&A with filmmaker Marisa Miller Wolfson, a talk by Jenny Brown, founder of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, and entertainment by Dynasty Electric.
Other presentations throughout the weekend include familiar names in the veg/animal rights world including Dr. Michael Greger, Ellen Jaffe Jones, Brendan Brazier, and Terry Hope Romero. Plus, there will be plenty of outreach tables from organizations including Mercy For Animals, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, NYCLASS, Compassion Over Killing, and PETA. Oh, and I did mention there will be food, right? Among the food vendors are Daiya, Loving Hut, Chicago SoyDairy, V Spo, Sweet & Sara and more!
So, if you can make your way to New York City this weekend, don’t miss out! I’ll be jealous (or should I say green?) the whole time you’re scarfing down Rescue Chocolate and enjoying the awesome speakers and events. You can get your VIP tickets for Saturday night now, or buy your gen admin tickets at the door!
