JOPLIN, MO – A minute into a newscaster’s report on location in the tornado-ravaged town of Joplin, a pet rescue taking place in the background suddenly takes center stage.
Watch as a pajama-clad resident sifts through the wreckage of his flattened house to locate a frightened dog. And see the little dog emerge, tail between legs, then shortly after, give a good shake and take a short walk.
The death toll from the violent F5* tornado that ripped apart the town is now at 127 people, with hundreds missing. The raw footage of the aftermath reveals tremendous devastation. St. John’s Regional Medical Center took a direct hit and many other building have been leveled.

Caring citizens are coming forward to foster displaced pets, while others are posting pictures and information on pets who have been found.
