Cesar Millan On Stray Animals Day (VIDEO)

(ANIMAL ACTIVISM) Although famed dog trainer Cesar Millan has faced much controversy due to the leaked video footage showing him kicking his canine subjects, he seems to be on the right track as the honorary ambassador of World Stray Animals Day, also known as the Day to Show Compassion. The worldwide celebrated day brings special attention to the fact that 600 million animals live and die on the streets as strays. Even though the advocacy-based holiday takes place April 4th, Millan urges people to make the Day to Show Compassion an everyday thing. Should New Zealand Eliminate Cats To Save Birds?

(LIFE WITH PETS) Economist and environmentalist Gareth Morgan recently ignited a controversy after an interview where he said that all cats should be gradually removed from New Zealand. Because New Zealand has one of the highest cat ownership rates in the world, he advises that all of the country’s residents not only neuter their cats, but also turn over strays to local authorities for euthanization in order to protect native bird species. Many of Morgan’s propositions are quite extreme, including his suggestion that people should catch stray cats with cage-traps and that the government should offer “free disposal of cats.” But while Morgan is not alone in his beliefs, we would like to know what you think. Hilary Swank Fights For Street Dogs

(CELEBRITY NEWS) ROMANIA — Million Dollar Baby star and animal lover, Hilary Swank, is taking her fight for animal rights global. Last week the Oscar-winning actress visited Bucharest in an effort to promote the spay and neuter of animals as well as the important interaction between animals and individuals who are institutionalized. The actress, who feels that street dogs can be beneficial to humans who are disadvantaged, is on a mission for strays and has plans for her own charity, Hilaroo. Rob Thomas Helps Homeless Pets In Puerto Rico

(CELEBRITY NEWS) PUERTO RICO — Thanks to a generous donation of $350,000 from Matchbox 20 frontman Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol, Pets Alive has a new sanctuary in Utado, Puerto Rico. Before the sanctuary, stray pets had to be flown all the way to New York for medical treatment, now they can be treated  immedietly. Pamela Anderson Gives Ukraine Red Card

(ANIMAL NEWS) Pamela Anderson has written a letter to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) president Michel Platini asking him to address Ukraine’s cruel preparation methods for Euro 2012. To get ready for the upcoming soccer tournament, Ukraine, the co-host of the event, is exterminating homeless animals. An estimated 7, 000 dogs a month have been hanged, shot, or poisoned. Even football players are asking that Ukraine find other methods to deal with the stray population.
