(LIFE WITH PETS) Many have seen a photo of this one-of-a-kind canine circulating the Internet this past week, and wondered: “Is he part human?” But contrary to speculation, the image features a two-year-old, poodle-Shih Tzu mix named Tonik, whose soulful expression has taken the World Wide Web by storm. The person-faced pup was recently saved from a kill shelter in Kentucky and brought to the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group, an animal welfare agency in Mishawaka, Indiana, where he is now ready for immediate adoption. Rescued Kitten Learns To Walk On Two Legs (VIDEO)

(TOUCHING TALE) Four-month-old rescue kitten Harvey has been given a new lease on life despite being born with bones missing from his front legs due to a rare condition called Radial Agenesis. The floppy feline was fortunately saved from a cruel owner and eventually turned over to the Glasgow, Scotland, branch of U.K. animal charity Cats Protection. Thanks to the charity’s efforts, Harvey is now awaiting an operation to replace the bones with metal pins and will be placed in a “forever home” once he recovers. Dog Paints For Domestic Violence Victims

(PETS) LAS VEGAS — On Friday, December 28, Arbor the dog raised over two hundred dollars for a local shelter in Las Vegas, Nevada. The talented canine is an avid painter and his masterpiece was auctioned to raise money for Noah’s Animal House and The Shade Tree Shelter. The shelter is a refuge for victims of domestic violence, their children and beloved pets. Built in 2007, the facility is one of the first establishments of its kind to allow furry friends. Since many womens’ shelters do not allow pets, guardians are often forced to leave their companion behind where it is at risk of further abuse, torture or possible death. Thanks to Shade Tree and Noah’s Animal House’ compassionate founder Staci Columbo Alonso, these innocent animals do not have to be left to fend for themselves. ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge Saves Lives

(ANIMAL ACTIVISTS) A few months back, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) partnered with Rachael Ray to help save animals with their ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. The annual, three-month-long contest encourages animal shelters across the country to compete and come up with new ways to save animals and win grants simultaneously. Pendleton Animal Sanctuary Destroyed In Fire

(ANIMAL NEWS) A fire in Pendleton, New York claimed the lives of more than half of the rescued animals at Lakeview Animal Sanctuary and Horse Farm on Tuesday night. The owner of the shelter, Sandy Pfohl, braved the fire and attempted to save the animals from the flames, almost losing her own life in the process. Unfortunately, about 60 animals were killed in the blaze. — Global Animal
