Could Snow Leopards Become Domestic Cats?

(ENDANGERED SPECIES) PAKISTAN — In an effort to conserve Snow Leopards, an expert has proposed that we begin labeling the big cats as a domestic animal. Snow Leopards are an endangered species and have witnessed a recent decline in population due to hunting and retaliation by farmers. Labeling these cats as domestic could mean that farmers would be compensated for any of their livestock killed by the Snow Leopards. The expert, Shafqat Hussain, claims that people can easily co-exist with these leopards as they have never been known to attack people, and therefore there is no reason to consciously separate the two. Read on to see why some do not agree with the controversial proposal, and give us your feedback. — Global Animal

Australia’s Live Trade Is Dying

(LIVE ANIMAL TRADE) AUSTRALIA — After receiving pressure from animal activists regarding the live animal trade, the Australian Government has implemented the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) to ensure exporters meet animal welfare standards and only trade to approved facilities. Since the legislation, the country’s live export has fortunately decreased. But regardless of these new regulations, animals still must endure an extended overseas journey and many trading companies meet the bare minimum standards, which still allow inhumane practices such as fully conscious slaughter. The only way to fully protect these animals is to shut down the live trade once and for all. Pressure from animal loving Australians has caused an improvement in animal welfare and if we can create international involvement, we may succeed in the cease of live trade entirely. Read on to learn how you can help ban the trade. — Global Animal

Morrissey Stands Up For Sheep

(TAKE ACTION) — Rocker Morrissey has written a letter to the Japanese clothing company, Uniqlo, urging them to boycott  farmers who use mulesing to get their wool. Mulesing is the extremely cruel method of removing large chunks of the sheep’s flesh along with the wool, in a misguided attempt to prevent flystrike. The sheep are never given any anaesthetic and can suffer deadly infections from the mutilation. For more on Morrissey’s campaign read on and click the “Take Action” mouse to sign a petition protesting mulesing. — Global Animal

Sheep Gives New Meaning To Sheepdog

(ANIMAL VIDEO) ENGLAND —Some animals seem to be a bit confused about their identity — the small dog who thinks he’s huge, the barking cat, and the sheepdog who’s afraid of sheep. Jack the sheep is not only confused, he is convinced that he is really a dog like his best friend Jesse. Jack shakes, fetches sticks, and even tries to heard his fellow flock-mates.
