Caring For Older Pets

(PET CARE) Although we never want to see our pets get older, acknowledging our pet’s rising age will allow us to share many more loving memories with our beloved animal friends. Regular vet checkups, though detested by our pets, need to be scheduled. We can also ease our pets into old age by simply having fun with them and making sure we provide them with the best accommodations. MLB Pitcher & Pit Bull Thrown Curve Ball

(PIT BULLS) CANADA — This Tuesday, a blockbuster trade in Major League Baseball sent pitcher Mark Buehrle to Canada, but he and his dog might have problems settling in, seeing that Ontario has enforced a ban on pit bulls since 2005. This is not the first time Buehrle and his family have faced trouble moving to a new location solely because of the breed of their dog, Yahoo! Sports reports. Miami-Dade County, where his previous team the Miami Marlins were located, also enforces a law that does not allow pit bulls, or any other type of dog that resembles the breed. Pet Guardianship In Decline

(PETS) The American Veternary Medical Association surveyed 50,000 U.S. homes and found that pet guardianship has decreased by 2.4 percent since 2006. Given the country’s current economic troubles, and as fewer Americans live in family situations, individuals are much less likely to care for a pet nowadays. With so many animals in local shelters, we can only hope that more people will open their homes to these great companions. HSUS Cracks Down On Nation’s Largest Exotic Animal Owner (VIDEO)

(ANIMAL WELFARE) Since reporting on the exploitation of tiger cubs throughout American shopping malls and the associated death of 23 tiger cubs, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) recently published findings from their very own undercover investigation in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Shockingly, during the four month investigation at Joe Schreibvogel’s G.W. Exotic Animal Park, another five tigers died. Not only do these findings correspond with Schreibvogel’s long history of negligence, but the investigation also suggests that Schreibvogel may be the largest private owner of tigers in the nation, housing as many as 200 tigers and more than 1,000 other species. Facebook Founder’s Wedding Includes Dog

The one-and-a-half-year-old Puli, a type of Hungarian sheep dog, has been a prominent figure in Zuckerberg’s life. The puppy even has his own Facebook page where he documents his daily activities like eating, sleeping and bathing.
