Vick’s Dogs Reunite For Family Photo

(DOG RESCUE) October 27 marked the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the 13 dogs rescued from Michael Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels. In celebration of the progress and success of these once abused dogs, seven of the canines and their current guardians reunited for a family photo at BadRap, one of the two non-profit organizations that took in Vick’s fighting dogs. Many believed that the recovered dogs from Bad Newz Kennels were violent and should be euthanized, but BadRap was determined to rehabilitate Vick’s victims. Thanks to the compassionate persons at BadRap and the amazing families who adopted the companions, the dogs  ”have gone on to earn impressive accolades, and all have proven themselves to be cherished family companions,” stated BadRap director Donna Reynolds. No Justice For Dog Murderer

(ANIMAL CRUELTY) CALIFORNIA — A 42-year-old man convicted of beating his neighbor’s German Shepherd to death last April has been sentenced to a year in jail and denied the right to own or care for any animal for the next 10 years. However, the man could have faced more than four years in prison. While this punishment might seem sufficient to some, others may be wondering if this man should ever be allowed to live, never mind own a pet again. — Global Animal

Founder of Dog Rescue Wanted for Animal Cruelty

(ANIMAL NEWS) VIRGINIA — Could Michael Vick’s animal abuse be living on? In a twisted scenario, it could seem that way, as numerous complaints about the treatment of dogs at Dogs Deserve Better has caused an investigation. While the compound is infamous for Michael Vick’s former dogfighting operation, founder Tamira Thayne recently took over the property to create a dog rescue in hopes of bringing justice to the hundreds of dogs that were abused there. Somewhere, something went wrong, and Thayne is wanted for animal cruelty. The kennel is still up and running, but accusations are flying. Hopefully the whole situation is a misunderstanding; no more dogs need to suffer at this site, or anywhere for that matter. — Global Animal

U.S. Representative Supports Dog Fighting
