Last Hurricane Sandy Dog Gets New Home

(TOUCHING TALE) Approximately 500 pets left homeless after Hurricane Sandy were brought to the Pet Emergency Shelter in New York’s Nassau County. All of these animals were eventually returned to their guardians except for Bruno, a 7-year-old male Rottweiler. The Nassau County SPCA posted an add on their Facebook page seeking a new home for the adorable pooch. The response was overwhelming, and the Facebook page was shared over 900 times. Family Goes The Distance For Missing Corgi

(ANIMAL NEWS) How far would you go to find your missing pet? For the Ghiggeri family, guardians of Andy, an eleven-year-old Corgi, there is no such thing as too far. Andy ran away on New Year’s Eve after being scared by fireworks while visiting friends in Westport Connecticut, and the hunt has been on ever since. His family made more than 4,000 posters, assembled teams of volunteers to patrol areas, set traps, raised money, set up a dozen night-vision cameras, hired a real-life pet detective, and by doing all of this, gained national media attention. For more on Andy read on. — Global Animal

Grieving Widow Reunited With Lost Dog

(TOUCHING TALE) NEVADA — A car crash that Barbara Bagley, her husband, and their two Shetland sheepdogs Dooley and Delaney suffered through nearly tore the family apart. Bagley’s husband, Brad Vom Baur, unfortunately died in the crash along with one of the sheepdogs, Delaney. After Bagley recovered from her near-critical injuries, her thoughts were only of her other beloved sheepdog, Dooley. Dooley, who survived the crash as well, bolted from the scene and escaped into the wild. After 53 days of patience, searching, and praying, Bagley’s dream came true when two people found Dooley and brought him back to his tearful guardian.
