Man Rescues 80-Year-Old Lobster From Plate

(OCEAN NEWS) CONNECTICUT — When Don MacKenzie saw a 17-pound lobster in a local Connecticut restaurant, he knew he had to have it. The lobster nicknamed Lucky Larry was estimated to be between 80 and 100 years old. Rather than eat Lucky Larry, MacKenzie thought that a lobster who has seen “World War I, World War II, the landing on the moon, and the Red Sox win a World Series,” deserves to live. Rare Calico Lobster Caught In Maine

(CRUSTACEANS) MAINE — A lobster caught off Winter Harbor, Maine is a 1-in-30 million find, even more rare than the 1-in-a million blue lobsters. The calico lobster is dark with bright orange and yellow spots, and is currently living at the New England Aquarium for the Biomes Marine Biology Center in Rhode Island. Monster Lobster’s Lucky Day

(OCEANS) MAINE — The largest lobster ever caught in Maine was released back into the Atlantic Ocean last week. Lobster Shell Disease Caused By Plastic Pollutants In Ocean

CONNECTICUT- A molecular biologist at the University of Connecticut has discovered that waterborne chemicals, mainly from plastics and detergents, contribute to an illness in lobsters known as “shell disease.” The chemicals from plastic are probably hazardous to humans too, says Han Laufer, since they are obviously dangerous to lobsters.
