(SHELTER PETS) Approximately 200 pit bulls are put down every day in Los Angeles County due to lack of available homes for the adorable pooches. Hope, an orange and white pit bull, was abandoned at a Los Angeles shelter one week before she gave birth to nine puppies. Giving birth and nursing newborn pups at a shelter are stressful undertakings for new mothers, and Hope lost three of her babies during those first few days. Last Hurricane Sandy Dog Gets New Home

(TOUCHING TALE) Approximately 500 pets left homeless after Hurricane Sandy were brought to the Pet Emergency Shelter in New York’s Nassau County. All of these animals were eventually returned to their guardians except for Bruno, a 7-year-old male Rottweiler. The Nassau County SPCA posted an add on their Facebook page seeking a new home for the adorable pooch. The response was overwhelming, and the Facebook page was shared over 900 times.
