Cash For Cats Campaign Gets Underway

(CATS) In an effort to curb cat overpopulation, the new “Cash for Cats” campaign gives cash to residents in qualifying Los Angeles area zip codes who bring their cat in to be spayed or neutered. Found Animals Foundation will pay pet guardians $5 for each cat brought in for the procedure in order to promote feline spay/neuter while also being the first ever program in Los Angeles County to reward participants in this progressive approach. NASA Plans Vegan Menu For Mars Astronauts

Tropical Butterfly Found In Canada

Miracle Cuban Crocodiles Hatch In DC

(ENDANGERED SPECIES) WASHINGTON DC — Two endangered Cuban crocodiles hatched at the National Zoo, making them the first successful hatchlings in 25 years. The baby croc’s mother was born in the wild and at 55 years old, was thought to be barren. There are fewer than 6,000 Cuban crocodiles in the wild and are only found in two small areas of Cuba. 500 Dogs Rescued From “Refuge”

(ANIMAL RESCUE) TEXAS/PENNSYLVANIA — Last week the Humane Society of the United States rescued 500 dogs from dire circumstances. 300 were rescued from a so-called refuge in Texas that harbored mostly pit bulls, after a former employee came forward when 38 dogs died from heat exposure in just one day. The other 200 were rescued from an animal hoarding situation in Pennsylvania. The HSUS warns that just as you would want to see the parents of a dog before going to a breeder, do the proper research and visit the site of any sanctuary or rescue you deal with as well. Activists Bully French Food Banks for Taking Bullfighting Meat

(ANIMAL RIGHTS) French food banks are receiving harsh criticism from displeased animal rights supporters after receiving meat from bulls killed in bullfights. Activists such as Thierry Hely, spokesman for France’s FLAC anti-bullfighting association, condemn the food banks acceptance of the meat, which came from “particularly revolting suffering.” This argument over meat allotment should not overshadow the underlying matter: bullfighting. Shelter Dogs Get a Taste of Fame
