Radical Activists ’269 Life’ Arrested In Israel

(ANIMAL ACTIVISM) Tel Aviv police have arrested ten animal rights activists for scattering dead cow and fish heads around the Gush Dan area. The heads showed up in public places like water fountains where water was dyed blood red—most likely symbolizing animal slaughter. The actions were allegedly taken by a radical group called ’269life,’ who are known for branding themselves in public to show solidarity with farm animals. Part of the group’s message is, “No animal should be exploited to satisfy the selfish needs and whimsical desires of humans, and that is why we chose to use the industry’s own method of objectifying living beings as this symbolic means to convey our idea.” None of the suspects have a prior criminal record, and right now they are not admitting to any connection with these acts. The agriculture industry hasn’t exactly been known for their conscientious treatment of livestock, but recent missteps might mean a great deal for your health as well. The majority of animals raised for food are forced to take a number of antibiotics with the sole purpose of making the animals larger, but not necessarily healthier. This incessant use of antibiotics allows bacteria to evolve, leading to a number of superbugs like salmonella and E. coli. These superbugs are extremely resilient to antibiotics used on livestock, and often times make their way onto our dinner tables. The ethical treatment of livestock remains an important issue for the animals’ health as well as our own.
