(DOGS) Even though the Chihuahua, Bullmastiff, and Old English Sheepdog don’t look like members of the same species in the slightest, new studies prove that a pooch knows a fellow pooch when he or she sees one. Dominique Autier-Derian of France’s National Veterinary School and his team explored whether dogs—with 400 breeds and the greatest morphological diversity of any species—have trouble recognizing other dogs as their own. Dogs Rescued From Florida Dog Fighting Ring

(DOG RESCUE) After receiving an anonymous tip, investigators rescued 26 dogs from a Plant City, Florida home where it is evident dog fighting occurred. All of the pit bull terriers are currently at Hillsborough County Animal Services where vets are treating their injuries. Vick’s Dogs Reunite For Family Photo

(DOG RESCUE) October 27 marked the fifth anniversary of the adoption of the 13 dogs rescued from Michael Vick’s Bad Newz Kennels. In celebration of the progress and success of these once abused dogs, seven of the canines and their current guardians reunited for a family photo at BadRap, one of the two non-profit organizations that took in Vick’s fighting dogs. Many believed that the recovered dogs from Bad Newz Kennels were violent and should be euthanized, but BadRap was determined to rehabilitate Vick’s victims. Thanks to the compassionate persons at BadRap and the amazing families who adopted the companions, the dogs  ”have gone on to earn impressive accolades, and all have proven themselves to be cherished family companions,” stated BadRap director Donna Reynolds. Canine’s Impressive Shake ‘N Dry Ability (VIDEO)

(LIFE WITH PETS) Put down the blowdryers, your dog can dry himself! We all try to avoid the inevitable dog shake while bathing our pups.
