(PENGUINS) JAPAN — Penguins at Suzaka Zoo are giving their keepers a run for their money. A group of 3-month-old chicks keep escaping from their exhibit. This is not the first time penguins have escaped from this zoo, earlier this year a Humboldt penguin manages to escape for 82 days. It seems like the Suzaka zoo needs to up their penguin security! Stolen Fairy Penguin Finds His Way Home
(ANIMAL NEWS) AUSTRALIA — Dirk, a 7-year-old fairy penguin bred in captivity, was stolen by three men from a Sea World on Queensland’s Gold Coast Saturday night. Dirk was found by a couple on Sunday in a local shark infested estuary. Sea World workers came to get Dirk and took him back to his home and mate, Peaches. Penguins Cleaned After New Zealand Oil Spill
(OIL SPILL) NEW ZEALAND — The beaches of New Zealand’s east coast were covered in oil after a ship carrying about half a million gallons of fuel collided with a reef this past week. The ship hit the Astrolabe Reef, only 14 miles from Tauranga Harbor, and oil has been washing up on a 3-mile stretch of land ever since the collision. Crews of a local wildlife rehabilitation facility are working hard to get birds and other wildlife cleaned up.
