Baby Fox Rescued From Well

(ANIMAL RESCUE) UNITED KINGDOM — A baby fox rescued from a well is now safe and sound at the Exotic Pet Refuge in Deeping St James, UK. No one is sure how she got in the well, but she may have been abandoned by her mother. The well was in a quarry where workers fortunately heard her cries and brought her up to safety. Mother Parrot Abandons Ugly Baby

New Face For Polar Bear Day

(ENDANGERED SPECIES) February 27 is International Polar Bear Day. In celebration, animal lovers worldwide can watch the daily activities of Siku, the 3-month-old polar bear cub. The live webcam will stream for two hours every day from 9:00-11:00 EST while Siku plays by a pond in Denmark’s Scandinavian Wildlife Park. The cub has been dubbed the “ambassador for polar bears,” and was chosen to raise awareness about the decline in sea ice. The bears hunt on the ice, and as it is lost, so are their opportunities to find food.  — Global Animal

Modern Family: Bull Dog Adopts Piglets (GALLERY)

(ANIMAL FAMILIES) GERMANY — A French bulldog named Baby has taken six wild baby boar piglets under her care at an animal sanctuary outside of Berlin. Baby has mothered other species before, an example that motherly instincts can transcend all boundaries. Animals adopting out of their species is not as rare as you might think, but so far scientists have no explanation for this heartwarming phenomenon. Baby Otter Orphan Nursed Back To Health

(ANIMAL NEWS) CALIFORNIA — A baby sea otter stranded off the coast of Cayucos, California was rescued last month and taken to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where she is currently being nursed back to health. Her caretakers are teaching the 10-week old to do the things a mother would normally teach her, like how to groom herself.
