(ANIMAL NEWS) CALIFORNIA — Notorious for streets overflowing with beggars, San Francisco is desperately trying to do something about this top concern. Wonderful Opportunities for Occupants and Fidos (WOOF) is executing a plan that will provide every eligible homeless person with a temporary foster puppy until a more permanent home is established. This proposal could take the homeless away from panhandling, provide individuals with money and give them the responsibility and benefit of a canine companion. On the other hand, animal rights activists say the pairing will put the dogs at risk, and PETA is offering a large sum to bring the whole plan to a halt. Should the program be allowed to transpire?
