ASPCA’s “Top Ten CATdown”

(ANIMAL WELFARE) Happy Adopt A Shelter Cat Month! It’s getting a little frisky this June, and the ASPCA just let the cat out of the bag. Every summer, animal shelters across the United States are overwhelmed with an abundance of furry felines in need of loving homes. On June 25th, 2013 at 7 p.m. EST, the ASPCA will be hosting a live-streamed “Top Ten CATdown” in hopes of encouraging the public to consider animal adoption instead of purchasing pets from stores and mills. Kevin Spacey Honors City Of Boston With New Puppy

(CELEBRITY PETS)  Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey has recently taken on a new role as the parent to an adorable rescue puppy, Boston, who he named in honor of the beloved city. During a recent visit to the Boston Medical Center to show his support for those affected by the recent tragedy, the actor welcomed Boston into his family after meeting with some of North Shore Animal League America’s Mutt-i-grees, who are there to help heal the emotional wounds of the victims. Naki’o, The World’s First Bionic Dog (GALLERY)

(DOG PICTURES) After becoming the first dog to be fitted with a complete set of prosthetic paws that work naturally and allow him to run, jump, and swim, Naki’o has been given a new leash on life. The mixed-breed puppy was abandoned at a foreclosed Nebraska home and was eventually discovered alone in the cellar, with his paws and tail frozen into a puddle of icy water. Fortunately for Naki’o, he met an extremely compassionate veterinarian assistant named Christie Pace of Colorado Springs, Colorado, who was looking to help an animal in need. ”I have a soft spot for rescue animals in general. I was looking for something different, unique. I wanted to make more of a difference than a regular dog. I knew I could help him out,” she told ABC. Mrs Blake Shelton already has five dogs in her family, but she also makes sure to open her house to foster animals. The “Gunpowder & Lead” singer told People magazine, “Every time I find one [dog], we keep ‘em until we can find them the right home. You kind of know what dog fits with your family. We keep ‘em until we find a family they fit with.” The star also admitted that husband Blake Shelton was a little baffled with her animal loving ways at first, but that he is used to it now.
