Stop Horse Diving In Atlantic City (TAKE ACTION)

(TAKE ACTION) Executives of Atlantic City’s Steel Pier have decided to bring back the horse diving act, a show where horses are forced to run and jump off a 40 foot pier into a 12 foot pool. The show was a major attraction from 1920 to 1970 until it was shut down, and rightfully so. Steel Pier president Anthony Catanoso says there is no evidence that the show is cruel or abusive. We would like to see him take a flying leap from 40 feet up, land belly first in 12 feet of water, and revise that statement! Read more on how to put a stop to horse diving in Atlantic City.  — Global Animal

Killing Giraffes for Sport (TAKE ACTION)

(ANIMAL WELFARE) With the giraffe populations decreasing, it’s troublesome to learn that hunters are able to travel to Africa and pay up to £10,000 for a chance to slay these beautiful creatures. Certain African countries allow this to go on under the claim that it helps their economy. Giraffes have already gone extinct in certain countries and yet humans are still continually destroying their habitat and letting tourists hunt them for sport. Read on to learn more about this outrageous story and to see what you can do to help giraffes. — Global Animal

The Truth About Pork (TAKE ACTION)

(ANIMAL CRUELTY) OKLAHOMA — The Humane Society has released information from its undercover investigation into Seaboard Foods and Prestage Farms, the nation’s two largest pork suppliers. HSUS has exposed the horrific practices used by pork companies, one of which supplies Wal Mart. Pigs spend their entire lives in crates scarcely bigger than their bodies, and are physically abused by workers. After undercover videos of Sparboe Farms and the Butterball turkey raising facility spurred outrage from animal advocates, it is disturbing to know that farms have made no progress toward a more humane treatment of pigs, which are smarter than dogs.  Read on for details of the investigation and what you can do to help. — Global Animal

Police Funded By Charity To End Wildlife Smuggling

(ANIMAL SMUGGLING) LONDON — Unexpected money fell into the hands of Metropolitan Police in London from a charity known as the World Society for the Protection of Animals. WSPA has decided to donate a large sum of money to the squad within the Metropolitan Police that is responsible for catching the hardened criminals who profit from the illegal smuggling of wild animals. The money will be used to beef up the number of investigators and  provide more funding for the group. Since criminals involved in this mistreatment of wildlife make a giant profit, the importance of shutting down current and future operations is valuable for both animal activists and detectives involved in putting an end to crime.
