(TORNADO ANIMAL RESCUE) Thanks to concerned readers, animals in the Southern United States affected by the tornadoes in April received food, microchips, and medical care. Global Animals donated $4,700 to aid the rescue and treatment of pets and animals in the devastated areas. (ZOO ANIMAL NEWS) LIBYA — Over a month has passed since Global Animal Foundation sent $6,000 in donations to the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to care for the Tripoli Zoo animals that were abandoned in August. Global Animal received news that these efforts helped to cover the cost of food and medicine for the animals during these past two months. IFAW continues to work with the Tripoli Zoo and is waiting to take the next steps in further helping these animals. — Global Animal
(ANIMAL RESCUE) JAPAN — Approximately eight months since the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, animals are still being rescued with the help of Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue & Support (JEARS) and Kinship Circle. Some have been rescued and rehabilitated from Japan’s radiation exclusion zone, while others have been saved from euthanization and in some cases, reunited with their families. — Global Animal

(TRIPOLI ZOO ANIMAL NEWS) LIBYA — Today the Tripoli Zoo received funds from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to provide food and water to the animals. They do currently have some water, but they still need more supplies. The biggest concern now is food — the cost to feed the animals is nearly $2,000 a day. In order to continue getting aid to these animals, IFAW is asking for donations so they can continue sending funds to the zoo. Getting aid to these animals is very difficult because the situation in Libya remains unstable, and it’s impossible to known how the new government will react to foreign groups entering the country.
