Who better to push the message “Don’t Let Your Dog or Cat Become an ‘Octomom’–Always Spay or Neuter” than “Octomom” herself, Nadya Suleman? That’s exactly what occurred tothe folks at PETA, who offered to give Suleman $5,000 and a month’s worth of free veggie dogs and veggie burgers if Suleman would agree to display a banner with the message on her home in La Habra, Calif. Suleman–who has been facing possible home foreclosure–has accepted the offer and will personally unveil the banner and make a brief statement at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
“This banner will help countless homeless cats and dogs by ensuring that people get the lifesaving message to always spay and neuter,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Plus, what parent wouldn’t appreciate a month’s supply of healthy, delicious foods that kids love–like veggie dogs and veggie burgers?”
Every year, more than 7 million animals are turned over to animal shelters, and roughly half of them are euthanized because of a lack of good homes. Countless other unwanted dogs and cats live on the streets, where they often fall victim to injuries, abuse, attacks by other animals, disease, or starvation. Much of this suffering can be prevented by simply spaying and neutering.
